PGL Beyond announces sale of Australian business to The Great Aussie Bush Camp
PGL Beyond, the UK’s largest outdoor education provider has today completed the sale of the Australian side of its business to The Great Aussie Bush Camp.
PGL Beyond, a network of brands including PGL, NST, European Study Tours, and Studylink Tours, first opened centres in Australia in January 2014 and has witnessed sustained growth in the market. With the Australian business in a strong position, and a strategic decision to focus on its UK and French operations, this was the right opportunity for all.
Group CEO Anthony Jones said, “We have been delighted with the high operational standards and strong growth being delivered in our Australian business, and the time was right to pass on our great work to a high-quality operator who is focused on the local market.”
The Great Aussie Bush Camp stands proudly as a leader in outdoor education across Australia, deeply rooted in their local economies and communities for over 20 years. As one of the largest outdoor education providers in the country, they welcome around 65,000 children and teachers annually across four locations in NSW.
The Great Aussie Bush Camp will take immediate ownership of the three PGL Australian centres – Campaspe Downs, and Camp Rumbug in Victoria, and Kindilan in Queensland. These sites join the company’s four established NSW locations, representing a significant milestone in its national growth.
Graham Ward, CEO of The Great Aussie Bush Camp, said, “The acquisition represents an exciting new chapter for the business.
We’re thrilled to bring The Great Aussie Bush Camp to new states in Victoria and Queensland and deliver the exceptional camps we are known for in NSW. We’ve admired the PGL business for many years and this acquisition is a perfect alignment.
We’re excited to welcome the PGL Adventure team into our organisation and can’t wait to host schools, groups and communities at these amazing sites.”
All booked camps will go ahead as planned and will transfer to the new ownership under the same terms and conditions. The three centres will continue to trade under the PGL brand for a period of up to six months with a transitional period in terms of licences and systems tied into the broader European business operations.
