Do you ever consider why school camps are important for students? Well, our R.E.A.C.H framework is designed to help students make brilliant breakthroughs in their learning and to deliver outcomes that will be important for them not just in school, but for life. Our R.E.A.C.H framework is structured around 5 key development areas for students. Within each of these areas, we identify learning outcomes, around which our programs are all designed, so it’s no accident that your students will come away from a PGL adventure camp with enhanced life skills! Let’s explore!

Relationships

What better way to improve relationships than getting out of the classroom and into a relaxed and comfortable setting? Our R.E.A.C.H. framework facilitates developing teamwork, stronger friendships, communication skills and respect for each other away from the formality of the classroom. How do we do this? Through our epic adventure activities that encourage the development of these skills, as well as utilising our plan-do-review approach to embed these key learnings for students.

Peer-to-peer relationships play a key role in student development, allowing students to communicate effectively and with confidence, knowing that they have the support and respect of their peers. Teacher-student relationships are also important and can be built more easily in a relaxed camp environment. The benefits of improved relationships with your students will assist with cooperation, mutual respect and confidence to voice their opinions and ideas. With a strong class bond, you’ll see your students reach their full potential, and stand a few inches taller.

Experiences

Another key development area highlighted in our R.E.A.C.H framework is Experiences. This is particularly important for younger students, who will be experiencing all that camp has to offer for the first time – perhaps it’s their first time away from home, their first time trying food not cooked by their parents, or their first time experiencing adventure activities. An adventure with PGL is a unique experience for students. New experiences broaden horizons and PGL enables your learners to try new things, visit new places, take on challenges and thrive in their environment. How do students benefit from outdoor learning? This is one way!

Ability

Abilities are another key development area of our R.E.A.C.H framework. In this context, we’re talking about improving problem solving, practical skills, building subject knowledge and inspiring a passion for learning. Our carefully curated MASTER! program is the perfect vehicle for enhancing abilities in students. A mix of hard skills, such as pitching a tent, campfire safety, knot-tying and basic first aid beautifully complements the soft skills that your students will develop, amongst these are leadership and decision making, time management and organisation, communication skills and adaptability and resilience.

Whatever reason you’re bringing your students to PGL on a R.E.A.C.H. program, there’s always potential for developing all of these skills. Our activities available at camp are wonderfully created to provide value to your students in so many ways!

Character

Every time students come to PGL, we see them leave with thriving character traits, and that’s what we’re here for. If we can help children leave with strengthened self-confidence, resilience, determination, independence, empathy, curiosity or leadership, then we’re happy!

These are amazing traits that not only support their educational development but their personal development too.

Health & wellbeing

All kids want is to have fun. So that’s exactly what they’ll get at PGL. If we can facilitate the development of other skills, traits and more, then that’s a bonus. But health, happiness and wellbeing are big drivers of ours! With our programs, we’re supporting emotional wellbeing, reducing stress, giving children time away from technology and improving their physical health.
