We have two exemplary school camps located in Victoria.

Campaspe Downs (VIC)

Situated close to the thriving rural village of Kyneton is Campaspe Downs, just an hour’s drive from Melbourne. This camp, nestled in the bushland at the heart of the Macedon Ranges, offers a diverse habitat of wildlife and breathtaking scenery, with unique outdoor learning experiences that will leave you inspired.

Camp Rumbug (VIC)

In the South Gippsland hills, Camp Rumbug is a truly stunning rural area surrounded by temperate rainforest and offering a truly unique learning environment to inspire your students. On camp, you’ll find everything from our famous adventure activities, large campfire spaces, recreational breakout areas plus much more! Accommodation is provided in our two main lodges, which are available for up to 270 people in purpose-built lodges – Planetree Lodge & Blackwood Lodge

We offer school camps in Victoria to cater for all ages. We offer stimulating programmes for primary school and secondary school students – with specialist activities and learning schedules designed to complement your students’ educational studies. We’ll work alongside teachers from schools across Victoria to develop tailored programs at our two camp locations that provide inspiration and challenge to your students.

What is the R.E.A.C.H framework and how can it benefit pupils?

Our R.E.A.C.H. framework incorporates five core pillars of learning to provide a holistic approach to education during our school camp programs. Booking with PGL means your pupils can enhance skills such as:

What’s included in the cost of my school camp booking in Victoria?

Once you make a booking with PGL, you’ll get everything included in the cost! That means you’ll get access to:

 

  • Comfortable accommodation throughout your entire stay 
  • Access to our wide range of amazing adventure activities 
  • 100% of activities are staffed by PGL Activity instructors
  • Use of all equipment
  • Three tasty meals every day
  • Evening activities, run by PGL staff
  • 1 free teacher place for 10 paying students
  • Dedicated group leader to help throughout your stay in camp. 

For a small additional fee, you have the option of adding Morning and Afternoon tea as well as Supper to your booking. We can also provide bedding (pillow, doona) for an additional fee if required (fitted bed sheet is automatically included).

Coach transport is not automatically included in the price, but we would be more than happy to help you arrange this – just contact us with your requirements.

 

Can I plan the camp experience I want to create for my students before we visit?

Our Customer Relations Consultants are always available to help you plan the perfect trips for your students before your camp visit. We’ll work with you to understand the learning outcomes you wish to achieve during camp so that your camp program is tailored just the way you want it when you arrive. What are the accommodation facilities like at both Victorian campsites?

Both of our Victorian campsites cater perfectly for school groups, with slight variations across each venue. All students are housed in comfortable, multi-share rooms with ensuite facilities or toilet and shower facilities nearby. Teachers are generally accommodated in single, twin or triple rooms with ensuite accommodation, with bedding provided. Whichever camp you stay at, we ensure that you and your school camp group will be comfortable.

Do you accommodate special dietary requirements for your school camps?

The health and well-being of all children who attend a PGL school camp are of paramount importance to us. We provide three healthy, high-energy meals per day, with plenty of variety, and we always serve generous portions of fruit and vegetables for a balanced meal. A vegetarian alternative can always be provided, and we can accommodate most special diets required on medical or religious grounds but in all cases, we will require full details at the time of booking – just let us know!

What are the safety protocols for school camps at PGL?

We leave nothing to chance here at PGL when it comes to the safety of everybody who attends a school camp at our campsites. All our school camp activities are carefully planned and led by trained instructors who adhere to strict safety guidelines. We regularly inspect and maintain our equipment to ensure a secure environment for all participants.

PGL staff will also lead groups and instruct students and pupils on activity sessions, whilst we allow teachers and group leaders to continue to have responsibility for student behaviour and welfare. We also have a list of risk assessments and activity descriptions that you can view here.

What should I pack for a school camp in Victoria?

Here’s a handy link to our packing guide which will let you know everything you need for a school camp. Soft-sided bags like duffle bags are easier to store in your cabin. Please try to limit the weight of your bag to under 15kg.
