The past two years have been a strange time for many with lockdowns, missed events, challenges with physical and emotional wellbeing, and so much more. During this time, many Primary and Secondary school students were unable to go on annual school camps, which is a rite of passage for so many.
Thankfully the Victorian Government has recognized the need for students to get outdoors, boost their physical and emotional health, reconnect with friends, challenge themselves and be inspired to be the best that they can be.
The Victorian Government is investing $112.9 million in the Positive Start initiative, enabling these children to have camp experiences in 2022. PGL Campaspe Downs and PGL Camp Rumbug have both been selected by the Victorian Government as camp providers for this important initiative.
What will the program look like?
There will be two types of camp experiences available through this Positive Start programme:
1. School camps
Teachers organize a school camp for their students during school term. Schools who are eligible for this initiative will be invited to book through the Positive Start programme (available at PGL Campaspe Downs and PGL Camp Rumbug).
2. Holiday camps
Eligible parents or carers can book a free camp for their child during the September school holiday period (Camp Rumbug only). We are very proud to be part of this initiative, offering life-changing camp programmes to eligible children in Victoria.
